Born and bred in Burnley, Lancashire, Matthew is an award-winning entrepreneur and successful business leader who has a strong track record in delivering consistent growth for organisations across a range of sectors. An ardent supporter of enterprise, entrepreneurship and business start-ups Matthew is dedicated to helping British enterprise and providing practical career guidance for young adults. Matthew is Chairman of three businesses, including Daisy Group Ltd a technology and communications business provider which he founded.
Simon Mellin founded Grassroots Foods with his brother, Nick. He was brought up around butchery and on farms and was often found helping out in his father’s butchers shop at a young age. After school Simon decided to take up a different career, travelling the world as a mechanic in a motorsport team. The yearning for rural life was too much and he decided to return to his farming and countryside roots and launched Grassroots in 2013. Simon looks after the day to day running of Grassroots Foods, and is an award winning young entrepreneur.

Nick ‘the knife’ Mellin founded Grassroots Foods with his brother, Simon. Nick first had a knife in his hand at the age of 6, in his father’s butchers shop in Nelson, and has never looked back. He has had a keen interest in farming and picked up many accolades over years of competing. He is a recipient of the British Farming Award’s Farming Partnership of the Year. Nick was already a well-respected Butcher before launching Grassroots in 2013. Since day one he has been very hands on in the running of operations, and today he looks after our new product innovations.
Born and bred in Lancashire, Anthony is an experienced Finance Director who has a strong history of managing the finances of some of the UK’s best known brands including JJB Sports, Homeserve and Daisy Group. He has helped to prepare several companies for stock market launches and had a great deal of experience in high-growth businesses before becoming a Director of Grassroots Wholesale Foods.
Our butchers at Grassroots are the people who make our wheels turn. They’re the ones that work around the clock and are up at all hours to ensure our meat is of the highest quality.
Each member of our butchery team are highly skilled individuals who continue to use traditional butchery methods to complete all orders on time and to the customer’s high level of satisfaction.
